Use Metric VBT in your research study
We're an open door for academic research. If you're running a strength and conditioning, sports science, or computer-vision study and want to use Metric for data collection, we'll set you up with what you need.
What we provide researchers
-
Free study-period access
Pro or Coach access for every device in the study, for the full data-collection window. No subscription friction for participants, coaches, or research assistants.
-
Raw data export
Per-rep CSV export covering every metric the app captures — mean velocity, peak velocity, range of motion, eccentric and concentric tempo, bar path coordinates. Direct from the device, no scraping.
-
Engineering & methodology consult
A call with the team building the app. We'll walk through how the computer-vision pipeline works, what the calibration assumptions are, and where the algorithm's edge cases sit — so your methods section is accurate.
Research we support
Not exhaustive — get in touch if your study isn't on the list and we'll figure out whether Metric is the right tool.
- ▸ Velocity-based training protocols
- ▸ Athlete monitoring and readiness
- ▸ Strength and conditioning methodology
- ▸ Computer vision in sport science
- ▸ Bar speed measurement validation
- ▸ Educational use in S&C coursework
Published validation studies
If you're evaluating whether Metric's accuracy meets your study's needs, the validation page summarises every peer-reviewed study, the gold-standard reference used, and links out to the full papers and PDFs.
