Privacy policy

Core Advantage Pty Ltd · 39 Cleeland Road, Oakleigh South, VIC 3167, Australia.
Last updated 27 October 2026.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

Core Advantage Pty Ltd ("Metric", "we", "us") makes the Metric apps. This policy covers Metric Lift (formerly Metric VBT), Metric Jump, and Metric Sprint on iPhone, iPad, and Android, the coach dashboard at app.metric.coach, and this website, metric.coach. We call these "the Services".

We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you live in the EU, UK, or a US state with a privacy law, you also have the rights in section 10.

For any privacy question or request, email community@metric.coach.

2. What we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name and email address. You can sign up with an email and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Sign in with Google. We never see your Apple or Google password. You can also add a profile photo.

Profile information

You can choose to add your date of birth, gender, bodyweight, height, sport, and role (athlete or coach). Each field is optional. The apps use bodyweight and height to calculate results such as power and relative strength.

Training data

We store the results you record: exercises, sets, reps, loads, bar speed, jump heights, sprint and agility times, workouts, programs, and notes. This data is the core of the Services, and we keep it in your account so you can see it on every device.

Camera, video, and microphone

The apps use your camera to measure lifts, jumps, and sprints. They process the video on your device. Video stays on your device unless one of these applies:

  • Cloud video. If you turn on cloud video, or your coach's organisation turns it on for its members, the apps upload clips and thumbnails to your account. You choose how long we keep them: 30, 60, 90, or 180 days, or until you delete them. We delete expired clips automatically.
  • Bug reports. If you send a bug report, it can include a screenshot and the video of the set you report.
  • Export. If you export a clip, the app saves it to your photo library or shares it where you choose.

Metric Lift and Metric Jump can record audio with video, so you can hear cues and commands on playback. Metric Sprint does not record audio.

Tracking diagnostics

Metric Lift on iPhone and Android uploads a small technical file for each set it tracks. The file holds the measured positions and timings the detector produced, plus device and app version details. It contains no video and no images. It is linked to your account. We use it to find tracking errors and to improve measurement accuracy.

Health data

Where an app offers Apple Health, and only if you give permission, it can read your bodyweight and height and write your workouts. We use Health data only to fill in your profile and log your training. We never use it for advertising, and we never share it with third parties for their own use.

Purchases

Apple, Google, and Stripe process your payments. We never see or store your card number. We store the details we need to confirm your plan: product, transaction ID, purchase and expiry dates, and your Stripe customer ID for web plans.

Device and usage information

The apps collect device model, operating system, app version, crash reports, and which features you use. The websites collect pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, and the referring site. We use this to fix bugs and to understand which features help people.

Support messages

When you email us or send a bug report, we keep the message and anything you attach so we can help you.

3. Google user data

When you choose Sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture URL with us. We request only the basic sign-in scopes (openid, email, and profile). We do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google data.

  • How we use it. We use your name and email to create your account, to sign you in, to show your name to you and to coaches you connect with, and to send you account and product emails. We do not store your Google profile picture.
  • How we share it. We share it only with the service providers in section 6 that run the Services for us. We do not sell it. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use it to train AI or machine learning models.
  • How we store and delete it. We store it in your account in Google Firebase. When you delete your account, we delete it as set out in section 9. You can also remove Metric's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.

Metric's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sign in with Apple works the same way. Apple shares your name and email, or a private relay email if you choose to hide it. We use them only as described above.

4. How we use your information

  • To run the Services: measure your sets, jumps, and sprints, store your results, and sync them between devices.
  • To connect athletes with their coaches, teams, and families.
  • To manage your subscription and confirm what your plan includes.
  • To send account emails, such as sign-in links, receipts, and plan changes.
  • To send product emails, such as onboarding tips and new-feature news. Every product email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • To answer support requests and fix bugs.
  • To improve measurement accuracy and the Services.
  • To keep the Services secure and prevent abuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads in the apps. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

5. Coaches, teams, and families

If you join a coach's organisation, a team, or a family plan, the coaches, managers, and family owners of that group can see your profile and training data. This includes your name, profile photo, bodyweight, results, workouts, and any cloud video. You control this by choosing to join. You can leave the group at any time, and the group then loses access to your new data.

A coach can create an account for an athlete by entering the athlete's email address. The athlete then receives an email and controls the account from that point.

If you connect a live broadcast overlay, the app sends your live set results to that overlay service for display.

6. Service providers

We use these companies to run the Services. Each processes personal information only on our instructions and only for the purpose shown.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of us. If we sell or merge our business, your information can transfer to the new owner under this policy, and we will tell you first.

7. Where we store your information

We store your account and training data in Google Cloud in Sydney, Australia. Some server functions and cloud video run in Google Cloud in the United States. Our service providers can process data in the United States, the EU, and other countries. When we send personal information outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient protects it to the standard of the Australian Privacy Principles.

8. Security

We encrypt data in transit and at rest. Access rules limit each account's data to its owner and to the coaches and family members the owner connects with. Only staff who need access to help you or run the Services can see your data. No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

9. How long we keep information, and how to delete it

  • Account and training data: until you delete your account.
  • Cloud video: for the period you choose in the app, or until you delete your account.
  • Bug reports: 30 days.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.

To delete your account, open the app and go to Settings, then Delete account. You can also email community@metric.coach from your account email. We delete your account, profile, training data, video, and diagnostics within 30 days. We keep only the payment records the law requires, and a record that your email unsubscribed so we never email you again.

10. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for product emails. Email community@metric.coach. We answer within 30 days and charge no fee. You can correct most information yourself in the app.

If you live in the EU or UK, we process your information to provide the Services you signed up for (contract), to improve and secure them (legitimate interests), with your consent where we ask for it, and to meet legal obligations. You can also object to processing and ask to move your data.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or to the data protection authority where you live.

11. Emails

When you create an account, we send you account emails and product emails about the app you use. Every product email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Account emails, such as receipts and sign-in links, continue while you have an account.

12. Children

You must be 13 or older to use the Services. If you are under 18, a parent, guardian, or coach must manage or approve your use, and they are responsible for your consent. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email community@metric.coach and we will delete it.

13. Cookies

metric.coach uses Google Analytics cookies to measure visits, and stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser. The coach dashboard stores sign-in data in your browser to keep you signed in, and uses cookie-free analytics. You can block cookies and site data in your browser settings. The dashboard needs its sign-in data to work.

14. Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top of this page when we change this policy. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.

15. Instagram data

Core Advantage Pty Ltd runs an internal tool that connects to our own Instagram professional accounts (@metric.app and @vbtcoach) through Meta's Instagram API. Our staff use it to schedule posts, read post insights, and reply to comments and direct messages sent to those accounts.

When you comment on our posts or message our accounts, the tool reads your Instagram username, the text and attachments of your comment or message, and the time you sent it. We use this only to read and reply to you. We do not store comments or messages on our servers, sell them, share them with third parties, or use them for advertising. They stay on Instagram and are fetched live when a staff member opens the tool.

To have your data removed, delete your comment or message on Instagram, or email community@metric.coach with your Instagram username and we will delete any copy we hold within 30 days and confirm by email.
