Programs and workout logging
Metric version 2.0 is now here on Android, featuring Program Templates, Workout Builder, and a number of significant improvements.
What’s new 🚨
July 2026
Programs and workout builder Build structured training programs directly in the app. Create programs from scratch, browse the program library for ready-made templates, or start from one of the sample programs included. Coaches can share programs with their athletes, and every program draws from a catalog of 200+ exercises plus the ability to create your own custom lifts. Start a workout from any program template or repeat from your training history to pick up from last time.
Live workouts Workouts now run as a full live session with a full screen overlay to keep your active workout focused. Tap an exercise name to collapse the card, or drag to reorder your workout on the fly. In-line rest timers, a persistent notification so you don’t lose your place, and a post-workout summary shows your trending sets and records earned. Sets can be velocity-tracked, manually entered, or duration-based, and exercises can be reordered mid-workout with drag-to-reorder. Standalone sets can also be merged into a workout after the fact.
Manual entry & distance exercise set logging As part of your workout, you can now log non-velocity tracked exercises. Sets can be velocity-tracked, manually entered with fields for weight, reps, duration, RPE/RIR, and distance. Reorder your program while you build or even mid-workout with drag-and-drop.
Multi-athlete team workouts Coaches can now run a single workout session across multiple athletes from one device. An athlete switcher bar lets you move between athletes during the session, with per-exercise exertion tracking and automatic per-athlete attribution. Every rep lands in the right athlete’s history.
Customisable workout stats Update any metric on the workout view for your exercises by tapping on the stat header column to switch between metrics for each of your exercises. If you add weights to your planks, or need to log a distance metric to your exercises you can easily adjust your units and metrics.
Last rep velocity toggle The third highlight stat on the set review screen is now tappable. Switch between fatigue/consistency and last-rep/lowest-rep views. Your preference is remembered for future sets.
Post-workout summary When you finish a workout, a summary screen shows your records earned and prompts you to update your program progression for the next session.
Improvements ✨
- Visual redesign. Metric’s coral palette is now shared across iOS and Android, with refreshed surfaces, updated typography, and full light and dark mode support.
- Sharper video in low light. A faster shutter speed is now unlocked for regular lifts at 80kg and above, cutting ISO grain significantly. Gated off for explosive lifts where it would impact tracking.
- Camera stability fix. The hold-steady warning no longer sticks on when the device is perfectly still.
- Edge-to-edge UI. Recording and import screens now draw full-bleed with proper status bar and FAB inset handling.
- Smarter exercise preferences. Defaults can be pushed in-sheet, and CV settings are hidden for non-velocity exercises where they don’t apply.
Bug fixes 🐛
- Fixed a crash when switching cameras during analysis that also lost the recorded video
- Fixed logic for when switching between a coach and a solo profile type
- Added a sign-in link to the onboarding screen for returning members
- Added Google account deletion for Google sign-in users
