Managing your athlete roster

Invite athletes individually or in bulk, manage invites, and remove athletes from your roster.

Adding an athlete to your roster creates a Metric training profile for them and links it to your team. You can record sets and log workouts for that athlete from your coach device straight away.

To let them record from their own device, they need to activate the profile with a password.

Inviting an athlete

(Who doesn’t have a Metric profile yet)

From the app or the coaches website:

  1. Account → My Team → Roster → Invite an athlete.
  2. Enter first name, last name, and email. Extra fields are optional.
  3. Confirm and send the invite.

The athlete now has a training profile linked to your team. You can record sets and log workouts for them from your coach device in Coach Mode immediately.

To let the athlete record from their own device:

  1. The athlete downloads Metric on iOS or Android.
  2. During onboarding in the app tap Login → Forgot password and enter the email you used for the invite.
  3. Metric sends a reset link to the athletes email. Be sure to check the spam folder.
  4. They follow the link, set a password, and return to the app to log in.

Inviting someone who already has a Metric profile

The flow is the same — coaches and family owners still send invites via the steps above. Confirm that the email address you invite exactly matches with your athletes Metric profile (Account → Profile) so the invite lands on the right account.

Pending invites sit in Account → My Team / My Family for both the coach and the athlete until actioned:

  • Accept — the athlete’s account upgrades to Pro and links to your team. All new and historical training data is linked to the team or family.
  • Decline — the invite is dismissed and the athlete doesn’t join your team.

Adding athletes in bulk

Bulk import is available on the coaches website only.

  1. Build a spreadsheet with exactly three columns in this order: First Name, Last Name, Email. And add your athletes details. Copy the cells.
  2. On the coach dashboard go to Roster → Bulk Import.
  3. Paste the cells into the entry field. Toggle the athlete invite email on or off depending on whether you want them notified now.
  4. Tap Parse and Preview to check the details.
  5. Tap Import athletes to finish. Each athlete receives an invite email if the toggle was on and the athletes are added to your roster within the next 1-2 minutes.

Removing athletes from your roster

Coaches can’t delete an athlete’s Metric training profile. Instead, you remove them from your roster, which unlinks their data from your team.

In-app: Account → My Team → Roster → tap the athlete → Remove from roster.

Bulk on the coaches dashboard: Roster → Delete athletes → select athletes → Confirm.

When removed, the athlete’s profile reverts to Basic and their training data is no longer shown in your coach account. The data remains in the athlete’s own account.

Cross-platform coaching

iOS and Android athletes use Metric the same way. An iOS coach can have Android athletes in their roster and vice versa.
