Video storage and sharing

How Metric stores lift, jump and sprint videos in the cloud and on your device, which plans include storage, and how to export or share a video.

UPDATED

Metric stores your lift, jump and sprint videos in the cloud. A cloud video stays attached to the set it belongs to, so the footage and the numbers stay together. You can then watch that video on any of your devices.

Cloud video storage needs a Pro or Ultra plan.

How much storage each plan includes

  • Free — no cloud video storage.
  • Pro — cloud video storage is included with a Pro subscription.
  • Ultra Solo — 25 GB for your own training videos.
  • Ultra Coach — from 50 GB at 5 athletes up to 550 GB at 100 athletes.

Note: The whole roster shares one pool of cloud storage. It is not an allowance for each athlete. Rosters larger than 100 athletes get higher cloud storage limits.

Turning on cloud video storage

A coach turns on cloud video storage in their settings. After it is on, Metric uploads the set videos that the athletes on your roster record.

Where you can watch cloud videos

  • The web app — sign in at app.metric.coach and open the set or test.
  • The coach app — open any set from history or the video library on your own device.
  • The athlete app — each athlete plays their own videos on their own device.

Local video storage

Metric can also store a video in-app on the device that recorded it. Local storage works independently of cloud storage. You can save every video automatically, or save single videos as you record them.

In-app video storage needs a Pro or Ultra plan. A Free account can play, export and share a video for 24 hours after recording. Metric then clears the in-app copy.

Exporting and sharing a video

Export and sharing work on Free, Pro and Ultra accounts. Auto-export saves every recorded set to your photos app, and you can also export single videos as you record them.

To send one video from any Metric app:

  1. Open the set review from history, an active workout, or the video library.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Choose Share video to send it through the share sheet.
  4. Choose Save video to export it to your camera roll instead.

Video settings

Set how a video looks before you export or share it, in Account → Settings → Video settings:

  • Bar path overlay — show or hide the tracked bar path on the video.
  • Metric overlay — choose which metrics appear on the video.
  • Auto-trim — crop the clip down to the lifting portion of the set.
  • Auto-export — save every recorded set to your photos app.

These settings apply to the exported file, so set them before you share.

Deleting a video

Deleting a video does not delete the set data. Bar speed, reps and history stay in your training history. See Video library for single and bulk deletion and for auto-cleanup.
