Video storage and sharing — Docs

Switch on cloud storage, save a set, and the video uploads with it. You can then watch it on the web dashboard or on another phone, and it stays attached to the set and its numbers. Cloud storage works in Metric Lift, Metric Jump and Metric Sprint.

Turn on cloud storage

In Metric Lift, open Account → Settings → Video settings. Under Cloud video storage, switch on Enable cloud storage. Metric Jump and Metric Sprint have the same Cloud video storage section in their settings.

Who controls the switch depends on your account:

On your own — with Pro or Ultra Solo, you control your own switch.
Coach or Family owner — your switch covers everyone on your roster or in your family. Their videos upload when they save a set.
Athlete on a roster — you see no switch. Your coach’s setting decides.

Then set Keep videos for to 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, or keep them with no limit. Metric deletes a cloud video once it passes that age. Switch on Keep favourites forever to protect the sets you mark as favourites.

Cloud storage comes with a paid Pro or Ultra plan. For a roster, it needs Ultra Coach, and the whole roster shares one storage pool. See Subscriptions.

Watch a cloud video

On the web — sign in at app.metric.coach and open the set or test.
On a coach’s phone — open any athlete’s set from history or the video library.
On an athlete’s phone — each athlete plays their own videos.

Sync or remove one video

Open the set review and tap Share. Sync to cloud uploads a video that is not in the cloud yet. Remove from cloud deletes the cloud copy and keeps the video on the phone.

Keep videos on the phone

Metric Lift can also keep videos on the phone that recorded them, in the video library. Switch on Save videos in-app in the same settings. The video library comes with Pro and Ultra and works apart from cloud storage. See Video library.

On Free, Metric Lift keeps each set video in the app for 24 hours after you record it. In that window you can play, export and share it. To keep a video, save it to your camera roll before the 24 hours end.

Export and sharing work on every plan.

Open the set review from history, an active workout or the video library.
Tap Share.
Choose Share video to send it through the share sheet. Choose Export to camera roll to save it to your photos.

Switch on Auto-export to camera roll to save every recorded set to your photos without a tap.

Choose what the exported video shows

Set these before you share, in Account → Settings → Video settings. They change the exported file, not the video in the app.

Show bar path — draw the tracked bar path on the video.
Video overlay metric — choose the metric shown on the video.
Auto-trim for export — cut the clip down to the lifting part of the set.

When it goes wrong

Retention deletes for good. Metric deletes a cloud video once it passes its Keep videos for age. Only favourites survive, and only with Keep favourites forever on.
Removing from the cloud cannot be undone. Remove from cloud deletes the cloud copy permanently. The phone copy stays.
A full pool. When the pool reaches 90%, Metric shows Cloud storage almost full. New videos stop uploading once the pool is full. Delete cloud videos you no longer need to free up space.
Deleting a video keeps the set. Bar speed, reps and history stay. See Video library.
