Sharing templates via direct link — Docs

Direct-link sharing generates a universal link for any template. The recipient taps the link on a device with Metric installed, and the template imports.

How it works

Open a template and tap Share → Direct link.
Metric generates a metric.coach/... link.
Send the link via any channel — text, email, social DM.
The recipient taps the link.
If they have Metric installed, the app opens and the template imports.
If they don’t, the link opens a web page prompting them to install first; the template imports after install.

Links are permanent. Anyone with the link can import the template.

What gets shared

Exercise list and order
Working sets, target reps, planned loads
Rest timers
Per-set targets (velocity, RPE)
Warm-up vs working set markings
Notes attached to the template

Recorded session data does not transfer. Templates carry the plan only.

Custom exercises in shared templates

If the template references custom exercises the recipient doesn’t have, those custom exercises import with the template. If the template uses standard exercises, they map automatically.

If a custom exercise name conflicts with one the recipient already has, Metric prompts to keep existing or replace.

Editing an imported template

The imported template belongs to the recipient. Edits don’t propagate back to the sender. Direct-link sharing is one-way and one-time at the moment of import.

Privacy

Only the template transfers — not your recorded data, account info, or training history.

Revoking access

You can’t revoke a direct link. Once shared, anyone with the link can import.

For access-controlled sharing, use coach-internal sharing — access is bound to specific athletes and can be revoked.
