Supported iPhones, iPads & Android Phones for the Metric App
Which iPhones, iPads, and Android phones support running the Metric computer vision system, plus what to expect on older or non-flagship hardware.
Metric runs on iOS, iPadOS, and Android, providing accurate barbell tracking data from the phone you already have. Here’s our supported devices and software levels.
iOS (iPhone)
Fully supported (recommended): iPhone 11 and newer. SE gen 3 or newer.
Minimum: iOS 18.6 or newer. Metric doesn’t run on OS versions older than 18.1.
iPadOS
We support the following models:
- iPad Pro — 5th generation and newer (2022+)
- iPad — 9th generation and newer (2021+)
- iPad Air — 5th generation and newer (2022+)
- iPad Mini — 6th generation and newer (2021+)support
Minimum: iPadOS 18.6 or newer. Metric doesn’t run on OS versions older than 18.1.
The Metric app is not yet available as a Mac App Store app, but coaches can use the web dashboard to manage their athletes and view training history.
Android
The range of computer vision capabilities on Android varies widely. After considerable testing and development we have landed on the following list of officially supported devices and configurations. Your device must meet all of the following to run Metric’s computer vision capabilities:
- Android 11 (API 30) or newer
- 6 GB RAM or more
- Vulkan 1.2 with compute shader support
- OpenGL ES 3.2 or newer
- Rear camera capable of 1080p

Devices outside our compatibility range
The following Android devices don’t meet Metric’s minimum hardware requirements for real-time tracking either due to camera or GPU limitations. Some devices may allow Metric installs from the Play Store but will not produce reliable velocity data and are not supported for velocity tracking at this time.
