Video sharing
How coaches can review athlete video while Metric is still local-only — workarounds today and what's coming.
Training videos are stored locally on the device that recorded them. They don’t sync to the cloud and they don’t automatically appear in the coach’s account. For now, you will need to export videos from the Metric app and share them manually in a messaging app.
What’s coming
Cloud video storage is on the roadmap and planned for release in mid 2026. Pro and Pro Coach subscriptions will come with a fixed amount of storage capacity and additional storage will require a subscription extension fee.
Once available, coaches will be able to manage which athlete videos are saved and synced to your coaches account automatically.
Workarounds today
Until cloud video storage is released, two workarounds let you review athlete video as a coach.
1. Athletes keep their video library
Ask each athlete to keep their video library enabled in the Metric app so the videos are saved and stay on-device after each workout. From the athlete’s side:
- Account → Video settings → Save videos to in-app library — All videos will be automatically saved in the app with every recording.
Alternatively, have them enable auto-export in the same settings menu and each training video will be exported to their camera roll when recorded.
Having at least one of these settings enables guarantees the video will persist on the athlete’s device and be available when you need it.
2. Athletes export and share to you
When you want a specific lifting video, ask the athlete to send it to you either by exporting to their camera roll first then sharing or sharing directly from Metric:
- Open the set in Set review (either in the active workout or in history).
- Tap the Share menu in the top corner.
- Choose either:
- Share video — sends via the share sheet to your messaging app, email, cloud drive, or wherever yo prefer.
- Export to camera roll — saves to their device camera roll first, then they share from the photos/gallery app.
The exported video includes the bar path (if enabled) and an overlay metric that can be adjusted in video settings.
Recording on a coach device
When you record an athlete’s set from your own coach device in a multi-athlete workout, the video stays on that device, not the athlete’s. To share back to the athlete (or keep it for your own review), export from the set review on your device the same way the athlete would.
